TBpeople Philippines Engages with Parañaque City Mayor to Advance TB Advocacy
On August 5, TBpeople Philippines paid a courtesy call to Parañaque City Mayor Eric L. Olivarez. During this important meeting, TBpeople Philippines provided a comprehensive overview of the organization’s mission, and its ongoing initiatives dedicated to supporting individuals affected by tuberculosis (TB).
The discussion highlighted several key projects aimed at enhancing TB awareness, prevention, and treatment. One such initiative is TB in the Workplace, which focuses on promoting awareness and prevention within workplace environments to ensure employees receive proper information, screening, and support. Additionally, the Fast Track the Cure Campaign advocates for the adoption of a new regimen for drug-resistant tuberculosis, promising a faster and more effective cure. This campaign aims to increase awareness and accessibility of this advanced treatment option.
Another innovative project is the OneImpact App, a mobile application designed to offer peer support for TB patients and assist healthcare providers. The app facilitates real-time communication, resource sharing, and community support, helping patients navigate their treatment journey more effectively. Moreover, the TBpeople Philippines Discipleship Parañaque City Chapter aims to mobilize TB survivors in Parañaque City. These survivors will act as peer educators and supporters, providing motivation, emotional support, and firsthand insights to current TB patients, fostering a supportive community.
Mayor Olivarez expressed his appreciation for the crucial work undertaken by TBpeople Philippines and recognized the significance of community-based initiatives in the battle against TB. He emphasized the city’s commitment to collaborating with organizations like TBpeople Philippines to achieve the shared goal of eradicating TB in Parañaque City.
