TBpeople Philippines and Baguio City Leaders and Community Unite to Fight Tuberculosis
The TBpeople Philippines recently had the opportunity to meet with Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda in Baguio City. Councilor Tabanda facilitated introductions between the team and key city officials, including the Vice Mayor, City Councilors, City Heads, and Administrators. During a session in the plenary hall, TBpeople Philippines introduced themselves, shared their advocacy, and presented various projects aimed at eradicating tuberculosis (TB) in the city. This meeting marked an important step in promoting their efforts and building a strong relationship with the local government
Additionally, the TBpeople team participated in the Executive Legislative Meeting, where they engaged with city councilors and city administrators. The team was met with enthusiastic questions from council members, highlighting the interest in TBpeople Philippines’ initiatives and plans for Baguio City. This interaction provided a platform for the team to introduce their plans for creating a city association focused on TB awareness and prevention. By collaboration with the local government, TBpeople Philippines aims to enhance their efforts to combat TB in Baguio City and improve health outcomes for residents.
The team also met with Mayor Benjamin Magalong in the city hall lobby to discuss the purpose of their courtesy visit. Mayor Magalong expressed his full commitment to supporting TBpeople Philippines’ mission to end TB in Baguio City. This pledge of support from the city’s leadership is a significant milestone in the fight against TB.
The visit also concluded with a feature by the Regional News Group – RNG Luzon, where TBpeople Philippines President Louie Zepeda-Teng shared the organization’s goals and advocacy work. By spreading awareness and collaborating with the local government, TBpeople Philippines is dedicated to ending tuberculosis in Baguio City and empowering TB survivors through education and support.
