TBpeople Philippines Initiates Collaboration with Pasig City’s National Tuberculosis Control Program
TBpeople Philippines recently paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Glen Sumayao, the Coordinator of Pasig City’s National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP), at the Bagong Ilog Health Center 1. The meeting represented an important milestone in establishing a collaboration focused on strengthening the fight against tuberculosis (TB) in the city.
During the visit, TBpeople Philippines presented an overview of the organization’s mission and ongoing initiatives dedicated to supporting individuals affected by TB. A key focus of the discussion was the introduction of the TBpeople Philippines Pasig City Discipleship. This innovative program seeks to establish a dedicated group of TB survivors living in Pasig City who will serve as valuable partners to healthcare workers. These survivors, drawing from their own experiences, will offer key support to current TB patients, providing interventions, encouragement, and motivation that only those who have walked the same path can deliver.
The TBpeople Philippines Pasig City Discipleship is designed not only to extend the reach of healthcare services but also to strengthen the support system available to TB patients. By involving TB survivors as mentors and peer supporters, the initiative aims to improve patient adherence to treatment, encourage resilience, and create a more compassionate and understanding care environment.
Looking ahead, the next phase of this collaboration involves drafting a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to formalize the partnership between TBpeople Philippines and the Pasig NTP under Dr. Sumayao’s leadership. This MOA will outline the roles, responsibilities, and specific contributions of each party, paving the way for a sustained and impactful joint effort to combat TB in Pasig City.
